Preview Magazine Lists Art Gallery Openings and Exhibitions

Art gallery openings are often fun to attend, and usually free and open to the public (sometimes an RSVP is requested). Some even offer a nice spread of food and drinks (usually the drinks are not free, of course). You might get a chance to chat with the artist, and definitely with other attendees. Of course, most exhibitions last for several weeks, so you can still visit if you miss the opening.

I find out about most art gallery openings through Facebook and Twitter, but Preview magazine is also a good source. Published quarterly, this magazine tells about art gallery openings in BC and Alberta. It’s not comprehensive, of course, but it’s an excellent resource. I’ve used both the website and the magazine, but I really appreciate having the hard copy.

Preview is available at various art galleries (just have a look around) and some other places too. I got my latest copy at Mink Chocolate downtown.
