Public Reading: The Cave Painter, Nov. 24, UBC, 8 PM, free

From the Playrights Theatre Centre email that I received:

The Cave Painter
Marilyn Norry, actress; Don Hannah, Playwright, Writer in Residence at Green College, 2011-12
Coach House, Green College, UBC
November 24 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

You are invited to join us for a reading of Cave Painter, a play by Don Hannah, PTC Colony guest dramaturg and Green College Writer in Residence.

Dianne is a printmaker who derives her imagery from pre-history: Neanderthal teeth, the Jericho skulls, old bones. When her granddaughter asks her why, she answers, “I’m trying to understand what it means to be human.”

The Cave Painter is a funny and moving one-woman show about being an artist, about dealing with loss, about masquerading as Alice B. Toklas and having a baby with Gertrude Stein. Dianne talks to the people she most loves and misses terribly; she’s a bawdy, atheist, feminist Job.
