Artist, writer, and filmmaker, Richard Fung will present his latest work, Dal Puri Diaspora (2012), an 80 minute film that traces the development of the dal puri roti, a dish that originated in eastern India, then traveled with South Asian and Caribbean diasporas to Canada. The filmmaker will then be joined by Dr. Sneja Gunew (Professor, University of British Columbia’s Department of English and Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice), and Michelle Jacques (Chief Curator, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria) in a post-screening conversation. The afternoon will conclude with a workshop on dal puri roti.

Funded by the UBC President’s Endowment Fund in partnership with the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre and the Contemporary Art Gallery and the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory, UBC.
